Inspired by realty television programs like "The Swan" and "Extreme Makeover," Cherise Wintz, owner of a Cherise's Salon located in Daytona Beach Shores, FL, came up with a locally grown version a few years ago. The Volusia County Makeover Team to date has given over 20 educational scholoarships for single parent moms in Volusia County.

Since then, Cherise, the program's founder has teamed up with the Millennium Woman Foundation--a Winter Park based nonprofit organization that provides tuition scholarships to single moms -- and now three local women have been transformed; Pamela Reynolds (2005 Millennium Woman), Patty Bennet (2006 Millennium Woman), and Sondra Tomlinson (2007 Millennium Woman).
